"I am not lost, I am just working out my way, no longer following the signposts outside, but instead following the compass within" - S.C Lourie
Having an established yoga practice, I’ve found myself more in the moment. This heightened awareness of the world around me has made me more appreciative of time, and my place here on his planet. Each moment is all we have, the here and now. This realisation raises questions within of how best to use our time and moments, varying from small, to deep and thought provoking.
This leads you to explore your layers and get to know yourself through your strengths and vulnerabilities, this can beautifully awaken your truth within.
Powerful questions that arise could include:
What direction is your life going in?
What do you consider important in life?
What brings you happiness?
How can you continue to explore possibility?
Can you take that leap of faith?
The essence of grounding down in yoga and connecting to your inner world, your body, your mind and being completely aware and present in a moment always comes back to the breath. The breath can take you on an inner journey as you move feeling into fluidity, each movement is beautifully unique, as is each breath you ever take, no two are ever the same, always continually evolving.
Off the mat our life is also moving constantly. A regular yoga practice can gift you the ability to connect to a single moment bringing meaning to the true value of time and how precious it is, and you can become attuned to embrace what it is in life that brings you joy.
All sorts of wise sayings become prominent “Time waits for no man,” “Use your time wisely” to “Be careful who and what you give your time and energy to”.
The pace and pressures of daily life can really engulf us, and of course, everyone’s situation is different, but even when life is ticking along nicely, we can still find ourselves finding barriers that stop us embracing change, new adventures, or exploration.
This can be because of our ‘comfort zone’, a lack of direction, fear, or simply being blissfully wrapped up in the whirlwind of life and unaware of how precious each day, week, month, or year truly is.
A yoga practice connects you deeply to your breath, to mindfully be aware “I am breathing in,” for it is in this moment your awareness to the energy of life is alive.
Seconds or minutes that that can bring you home to you, to the here and now and an awareness of time and a connection to yourself.
For me this has been powerfully profound. In yoga, I have found something I love to do, every day I am on this journey to keep learning, and as I turn 50 in the next couple of weeks, I embrace this milestone and celebrate fifty times around the sun.
I am so grateful for yoga in my life, it continues to inspire, and connect me to an appreciation for everything and everyone around me.
Reflection mixed with awareness and direction is wonderfully life changing. I intend to use my time kindly doing what I love, I cannot wait to start my 200hr YTT journey, exploring my capabilities and possibilities. My intention is to feel into vulnerability and grow from the courage it takes to learn from new experiences.
This will enable my heart to stay open as I gain knowledge so I may begin to share with others the amazing freedom that can be found from stress through connecting to a single moment in time. As you find yourself and come home to you.
When I am able to start teaching I am so excited for how yoga can nourish and nurture those who attend my class, hopefully they can take what they need along with a curiosity to explore stillness within and find compassion and
awareness for themselves.
Try and take a moment to close your eyes and just listen and feel into your breath...this moment is all we ever really have...bring your attention to it fully. Let calmness wash over you and tensions ease...the gift of being present.
Remember, yoga is so much more than a practice on the mat, it transfers into every aspect of your life and can beautifully light your inner compass as you evolve, finding your way in this world.
Yoga is for everyone.
love
