WOW!!! what an amazingly positive way to start the year and needed more than ever right now, during these times of Lockdown.
Yoganuary at www.mysoulsanctuary.co with Cat Meffan is an online yoga retreat for members. Some yogis join just for the month of January to participate in the event. For 31 days you gift yourself the time to flow, breathe, meditate and journal through a journey of self discovery.
#Catmeffanyoga is an ex gymnast, dancer and lover of all movement & now multifaceted yoga teacher and is the creator of this beautiful community @mysoulsanctuary, where she provides inspiring, heartfelt, expert guidance throughout for all. Anyone can do this!
All you need is to be open hearted, committed and ready to embrace many enriching aspects of yoga practice, including asanas and philosophy. Taking just what you need from it for yourself.
Go on a personal journey all within a worldwide group of bighearted and supportive yogis. With whom you can share your experiences and photos on the private members only Facebook group. It really is the kindest corner of the internet!
The theme for Yoganuary 5.0 was 'This is Me'
What's not to love?!!
Let's go!!!
Find Yourself...Drop The Fear Take Every Chance.
For 31 days, there is something different, to inspire, challenge and emotionally move you through the layers that are you!
A printable schedule for the month enables you to preview what's in store (very exciting!!) and stay accountable throughout. I enjoyed embellishing mine with illustrations and colour to make it pretty.
The flows are varied and some you will feel closer to than others, but it is exciting to experience new styles and be open to learning new things. It's how we grow right?!!
The practices included; Mandala, Restorative, Free Movement, Vinyasa, Yin, Power Flows, Handstand Practice, Yoga Nidra, Meditation, Mobility, Breath Work, Journaling and Gratitude.
A rich tapestry indeed! Such an opportunity to really explore and deepen your own practice, to nourish your mind, body and soul.
Cat Meffan teaches the flows with an infectious joy, providing techniques and modifications, all with the philosophy of being kind to yourself, to practice ahimsa, to respect and listen to your body intuitively. To be in the moment.
Once a week there was a 60 minute flow, all others were 30 minutes in duration. Depending on where your practice is at and what your body needs each day, you could do an additional flow of your choice alongside it. There are many to choose from on the My Soul Sanctuary website. Some days I did this, and some days I didn't!
A live Q & A with Cat on the Facebook Soul Sanctuary community was a fabulous chance to ask questions. It was wonderfully informal and a great many questions were put forward, and Cat did her best to answer as many as she could. This included live demonstrations of asana techniques and specific transitions. These were invaluable. It was lots of fun to take part in.
This Is Us - Closing Ceremony
The last day of Yoganuary was a live zoom flow for all who had taken part with Cat. What a beautiful experience with this community.
500 yogis from around the world all flowing together!!! It was powerful and emotional.
So many lovely faces, some I'd become friends with over the course of the month. Turning our microphones on at the end with a chorus of "Hellos" created the best energy!
It was the perfect way to end Yoganuary 5.0. This is us. This is me...
"Don't be afraid. Change is such a beautiful thing", said the Butterfly. - Sabrina Newby
Yoganuary may be over, but will always be in my heart. It really was made special sharing with all those who took part, and we chatted, laughed and flowed with kindness and honesty together. From this journey, I have a deeper understanding of my mind, body and soul. I am so grateful for this. I loved it so much I've started last year's Yoganuary 4.0!!! (Febyoguary?!! anyone?!)
I highly recommend future Yoganuary events to anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice.
If you're on a yoga journey or have recently started one you could check out www.mysoulsanctuary.co it might be of interest to you.
Yoga teaches you so much on the mat that you can apply into your life off the mat.
Always believe in yourself. Always make time for yourself, so you have more to give back to the world.
Spring is coming...brighter days are ahead.
Be kind & go with the flow
