What's at the core of your practice?

“Our core beliefs are at the very centre of who we are, what we believe about ourselves, what we think of others and how we feel about life as a whole” – Aletheia Luna

Your core helps to build a solid foundation for your yoga practice, providing balance and mobility through all three planes of motion. It is made up of different layers that wrap around you like a corset. When fired up it is your engine, as these layers of muscles work as a singular, harmonious powerhouse supporting your yoga practice when you begin, where you are, and continually taking you on a path of progression.

Building a strong core can open possibilities to more advanced postures. Personally, for me, it offers a feeling of empowerment that gently improves my confidence, as a strong core provides priceless protection for the health of my back, something I never take for granted. I am mindful that it is nurtured, maintained, and improved in a careful and consistent way.

Core strength within our yoga practice supports and enhances not just the physical aspect. Through thoughtful self-reflection, (Swadhaya) we nourish our inner strengths within the stillness and space we create, consequently, we may experience a meaningful reconnection to discovering our deeper, emotional, and moral core. Our all-encompassing ‘core values’.

These are the essence of your being, your true nature, and through them you can align the direction of your journey, provide that solid foundation for your priorities, choices, and purpose in life, beautifully, this is your unique truth.

“The practice of yoga brings us face to face with the extraordinary complexity of our own being.”

-Sri Aurobindo
